A supportive counseling conversation

When your child needs more support

Families may reach out when worry, emotional overwhelm, grief, family changes, or relationship difficulties are making everyday life harder. You do not need to have every answer before asking what support may fit your child.

A place for children and teens to be heard

Counseling offers time to understand what feels difficult from the young person’s perspective. Care is individualized to their needs and stage of life, with space to talk about feelings, relationships, and practical ways to cope.

Where caregivers fit

A parent or guardian is involved in intake for a child. When appropriate, caregivers are included in care to help support the young person beyond the counseling space. Ask the counselor how participation and privacy will work for your family.

Preparing for the first visit

Before the appointment, write down what you have noticed, when it happens, and what you hope will become easier. Intake paperwork and the first conversation help the counselor understand your child’s history, strengths, and needs. The plan is developed together rather than decided before meeting your family.

Counseling and occupational therapy

Some children have both emotional concerns and sensory or daily participation needs. Counseling and occupational therapy address different aspects of care. Bridgeway’s team can help families explore which service, or combination of services, may be appropriate.

Options for your family

In-person counseling is planned in Corbin. Telehealth may be available when clinically appropriate, permitted by your health plan, and agreed to in advance. Ask our team about the options available for your child before scheduling.
